11 June 2024

Every June, communities across the globe mark Pride Month by celebrating the diversity of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex and asexual (LGBTQIA+) community. Pride Month is a time to commemorate and celebrate the liberation and journey of the LGBTQIA+ community, and to reflect upon the need for ongoing commitment to combat discrimination.

University Hall has a long-standing tradition of embracing and celebrating diversity and promoting inclusion; creating an environment whereby all residents can come together and connect in a safe and respectful space.  We are committed to celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community through our community’s core values:

o Imagine – We look for new ideas and opportunities that will enhance all to feel welcome and valued.

o Connect – We seek partnerships and build lifelong connections. We create living communities of friends, scholars, and alumni.

o Include – We value individual differences and embrace people from all walks of life.

o Nurture – We want to make a difference to the lives of students around the world.

o Strive – We create opportunities for students and others to achieve their full potential..

Delivering on our commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community, Unihall is proud to join the Welcome Here Project, making an ongoing commitment to the development and enhancement of the inclusion of LGBTQIA+ people at UWA.

The Welcome Here Project was founded by ACON Health to support businesses and services throughout Australia to create and promote environments that are visibly welcoming and inclusive of LGBTQIA+ communities.

Residents of University Hall have access to 24/7 support through a network of staff and senior residents on site and are encouraged to reach out at any time.
