Tom graduated with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Geology, from the University of Western Australia in early 2024. During his time at UniHall, he was actively involved in student leadership, serving as the ResClub President in his second year and as the Lead Resident Advisor in his third year.
Additionally, Tom joined the NAAUC executive team as the Academic Director in his third year, and transitioning to the role of Vice President of Engagement where he remains today. In this capacity, he is responsible for enhancing NAAUC’s engagement strategies and fostering connections with students in university colleges across Australia.
Tom is passionate about the positive impact residential colleges have on communities of young people. Through his work in NAAUC’s Engagement program, he aims to inspire students, develop their leadership skills, and empower them to uplift their collegiate communities.
Alongside his commitment to NAAUC, Tom works in the West Australian Goldfields as a graduate mine geologist.
Reflecting on his time at University Hall, Tom cherishes the community atmosphere, where he could easily connect with mates and take advantage of the expansive social scene within the college community. He found this environment to be the perfect bridge between home life and future career opportunities, helping him build an extensive network of connections and friends.
Tom advises future residents to immerse themselves in college culture, embrace the diversity at University Hall, and engage with student leadership in the college environment. He believes these experiences are invaluable in cultivating skills for creating a safe and inclusive community, complementing academic pursuits.
