This semester marked an exciting milestone at UniHall with the successful launch of our first alumni-led workshop series. We were thrilled to welcome back UniHall alumnus Ed Hourani, founder of ZizoApps and the developer behind the UniHall app, to lead two dynamic and engaging workshops for our residents.
The workshop series attracted a diverse group of residents, divided into two focus areas—coding and entrepreneurship. Ed, who brought both technical expertise and startup experience to the table, guided participants through hands-on activities tailored to each group.
In the coding workshop, participants got Flutter up and running on their laptops and began learning how to build mobile applications from the ground up. Meanwhile, the entrepreneurship group engaged in vibrant discussions around startup ideas, product validation, and business strategy.
“It was great! Everyone had a great time,” said Ed, reflecting on the experience. “We had an ideation session where everyone pitched their ideas, then we voted and landed on building a meal tracker for the UniHall app’s dining hall page.”
This collaborative ideation session was a standout moment—residents came together, shared creative solutions, and ultimately chose to tackle a real need within the UniHall community. The newly conceived meal tracker has been launched, giving collaborators bragging rights amongst their peers.
This workshop is just the beginning of a new chapter of alumni engagement at UniHall. By bringing former residents back to share their knowledge, we’re building a stronger, more connected community—one that empowers current residents to take initiative, collaborate, and innovate.
We’re incredibly proud of everyone who participated and grateful to Ed for his time, energy, and passion. Stay tuned for updates on the meal tracker release—and for more alumni-led initiatives coming soon!
