Every year, we come together to celebrate something special: the academic achievements of our students.
Academic Celebration is our annual formal event recognising the dedication, commitment and hard work of students who have achieved outstanding results across the year. To receive an award, students must achieve the equivalent of a minimum of three Distinctions or three High Distinctions in a single period of study.
This year, an incredible 517 UniHall students were eligible to receive an award that’s a whopping two thirds of our community.
That number is worth celebrating. But behind every award is a student who put in the hours, pushed through the tough weeks, and found a way to keep going when university life got busy.
And while academic success is often seen as an individual achievement, we know it rarely happens alone.
At UniHall, our students genuinely rally behind one another. They share notes, swap study tips, explain tricky concepts, form study groups, and draw on each other’s strengths and expertise. A student who understands something today might be the person helping someone else understand it tomorrow.
It’s one of the things that makes this community so special.
Of course, we also know that creating the right environment can make a difference. UniHall provides dedicated study spaces and resources, along with study packs and wellbeing activities designed to help students find balance during what can be a demanding time of year.
Even the everyday things matter. With meals and regular cleaning included as part of their accommodation, students have fewer of the day to day jobs to worry about and more time to focus on what brought them to university in the first place: learning, growing and achieving their goals.
But ultimately, 517 awards aren't just a reflection of what UniHall provides. They reflect the students themselves.
Their determination. Their curiosity. Their willingness to help each other. And their ability to celebrate one another’s successes along the way.
Academic Celebration is our opportunity to pause and recognise all of that.
To those students recognised this year: congratulations. Your results are something to be incredibly proud of.
And to the friends, floor mates, RAs, staff and wider UWA community who helped get them there, this celebration belongs to you too.
Because at UniHall, success is something we work towards together.
