UniHall runs events through the year to welcome, celebrate and reward students in our vibrant student community.
UniHall isn’t just a place to live — it’s a place to belong. Throughout the year, we host events that give future residents (and their curious families) a taste of what life here is really like: vibrant, welcoming, and a little bit unpredictable in the best way. More than just study — way more. From annual traditions to spontaneous celebrations, our calendar is packed with moments that bring people together. Whether it’s a talent show, cultural night, or a rooftop movie, these events are all about connection, celebration, and creating memories that stick. And the best part? Many of them are dreamed up and run by our own residents — through the ResClub and Program Residential Assistants — so they’re never cookie-cutter. Just real people, real fun, and real community.
Our first event of the year is a casual Welcome Day BBQ held in the Lower Quad. It’s a great opportunity for new residents to meet one another, get to know the ResClub, and enjoy a true taste of Aussie culture. For many international students, this is their first introduction to an Australian BBQ — relaxed, friendly, and full of great food.
Every new resident is invited to this formal dinner to mark the beginning of the semester and their journey at UniHall. It's a themed event filled with fun, featuring a guest speaker and inspiring words from our Principal and student leaders. It’s the perfect way to kick off the academic year and set the tone for what’s to come.
A cherished tradition since the 1970s, International Night celebrates the rich cultural diversity within our community. Each year, a different culture is highlighted, with residents taking part in a vibrant Parade of Flags representing their home countries. It’s a colourful, high-energy event that truly showcases the global spirit of UniHall.
