Unihall Celebrates an Incredible University Hall wrapped up its 80th anniversary year in true UniHall style, bringing the community together for one final all-of-Hall celebration. And what a way to finish!
The Upper Quad was transformed into an 80s High School Prom, with neon pink, disco balls, plenty of sparkle and more than a few memorable moments. Our Best Dressed winner certainly understood the assignment, arriving dressed head to toe in pink and perfectly on theme. The night also saw our Prom King and Prom Queen crowned, adding a little extra prom-night magic to the celebrations.
But beneath the fun, nostalgia and dance-floor antics, the evening was also an opportunity to pause and celebrate the people who make UniHall what it is.
Students heard from Professor Zach Aman from UWA, who shared a memory of his own high school prom and offered words of encouragement as our residents look ahead to the next chapter of their lives. Jordan George, one of our graduating students, also delivered a heartfelt farewell, reflecting on the friendships, experiences and memories that will stay with him long after he leaves UniHall.
The evening provided an opportunity to recognise residents who have made a lasting contribution to our community, with ResClub announcing its new Life Members. These students have shown outstanding commitment and involvement, leaving their own mark on UniHall and helping shape the experience of those around them.
We also presented a swag of awards celebrating residents who have gone above and beyond, whether through leadership, sport, kindness, creativity or simply being the people who make UniHall a place where others feel they belong. Each award was a reminder that it's the people, and the little things they do for one another, that make this community so special.
As our 80th anniversary year draws to a close, these moments feel particularly significant. For 80 years, University Hall has brought together students from diverse backgrounds, cultures and corners of the world, creating a place to make friends, discover new things about themselves and build memories that stay with them long after their time here.
And there was certainly no shortage of memories made on this night.
Once the speeches were delivered, awards presented and crowns secured, the formalities gave way to what every good UniHall celebration eventually becomes: a dance floor full of students letting loose, sharing a few laughs and celebrating the year together.
Our End of Year Celebration was the perfect way to finish our final all-of-Hall event of the 80th anniversary year, bringing together reflection, recognition and a whole lot of fun with the people who make UniHall what it is.
Here's to 80 years of memories, friendships and moments that stay with you and to everything still to come.
