Alumna Matt Budge has recently been appointed Chair of the University Hall Council.
Matt is a partner at PwC and has travelled extensively throughout his career. In 2012 he Returned to Perth and become an active member of the Hall’s Alumni Steering Committee.
Matt’s family relocated to Perth from Melbourne after he completed year 12 and, although his family lived nearby, both his parents’ and his sister’s experiences living on campus during their studies convinced him that college life was for him. The Currie Hall experience proved an excellent way for him to meet new people and to get the most out of the University experience.
Matt’s fondest memories of the Hall include staying up all night watching “Rage” in the Blue Room, winning the Nicholson Cup for swimming and athletics carnivals in the same year and being elected President of the Res Club in 2000.
Matt left Currie Hall at the end of 2000 and started as a graduate at PwC in Perth in 2001, having been offered a job as part of the vacation work program at the end of his second year. Matt has now worked for PwC for over 14 years, and was admitted as a partner in 2012.
During his career working for PwC Matt has worked in Melbourne, Sydney and Washington DC. Matt has also continued to study in his professional life, completing the Institute of Chartered Accountants program in 2004 and obtaining a Masters’ Degree from The University of Melbourne in 2008.
Upon returning to Perth, Matt was very interested in reconnecting with UniHall.
“My time at Currie Hall was three of the most enjoyable years of my life and I was keen to be involved to ensure others have the same positive experience that I had,” he says.
