Former Olympian and Perth Wildcats basketball star, Andrew Vlahov shared inspirational insights with students at University Hall’s Annual Sports Award Dinner which was held on the 16th October.

His presence and words, as an outstanding athlete and now CEO of RV Sports (sporting event specialist group) created the perfect atmosphere to celebrate the announcement of University Hall’s 2014 Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year.

University Hall residents and Resident Club Sports Representatives, Emma Leipold and Ryan Varis found Andrew’s words to be just the right fit for the evening.

“Andrew spoke about the importance of leadership and how being accountable in leadership leads to the basis of a strong team and network, a skill which is applicable to any situation, be it on the sporting field or in the workforce”, said Ryan.

University Hall’s Sports Dinner recognizes outstanding resident participation and achievement across The University of Western Australia’s annual Intercollegiate Sporting Calendar.

Eleven genres of sport formed the Inter-College Calendar in 2014 (from cross country and volleyball, to netball and AFL) and the 19 awards announced at the Dinner celebrated the top performing University Hall residents in each sport.

University Hall’s 2014 Sportswoman of the Year is Jessica Crisp (along with being awarded the top University Hall female performer in Hockey) with Andrew Henson announced as University Hall’s 2014 Sportsman of Year.
