University Hall, your home away from home, provides a varied range of services & facilities for its residents to use, whether they are studying or relaxing.

Common spaces are located throughout the Hall and are fully equipped with lounges, TVs and kitchens so that residents can study, cook and hang out together.

Computer Rooms

Air-conditioned computer rooms are available to all residents 24 hours a day. All computer rooms have networked workstations, a network server, a proxy server and a multi function printer/copier for University-related research and course assignments. The computers are linked to the University’s network, and residents can access email and the internet.

Games Room

This is the most popular room at the Hall and can be found on the ground floor of K House. It is a great place for residents to unwind, meet new friends and enjoy some much deserved “me” time after a hard day of studying. Open 24 hours and fully equipped with multiple air hockey, pool and foosball tables, there is plenty of room for everyone.

Music Rooms

There are two music rooms located in K House, one has a piano and the other has a drum kit for students to share and use. Students are welcome to bring their own music equipment to rehearse for their hobbies and for inter-college events such as Battle of the Bands.

Study Group Rooms

While every room at the Hall has a desk to study, we say don’t hide away in your room and use the air-conditioned and spacious study areas. There are multiple rooms all around the Hall where students can study on their own or in groups with friends.

Half Basketball Courts & Outdoor Gym

University Hall has two half basketball courts. One is located behind B House, while the other is alongside J House next to Mounts Bay Road. A range of outdoor fitness equipment can be found next to D House in the lower quad.

Upper & Lower Quad

The upper and lower quad areas are versatile spaces used for a wide variety of events such as sporting tournaments, cocktail parties and O Week festivities. Tables and benches made out of recycled timber also mean that they are the perfect location to soak up some sun while studying. In the lower quad you will also find a range of outdoor fitness equipment.

WiFi

Residents can use their UWA student log in to access the Unifi WiFi network in common areas around the Hall. In 2016, the standard and standard premium rooms were upgraded so residents receive WiFi in their room.

Internet Access

To connect to the internet, you must connect an Ethernet cable into the data point located in your room. The onus is on the individual resident to connect their own computer to the port and to provide any hardware including cables. Wireless access points are available in the main common areas.

To connect your device please use the MAC Guide or the Windows Guide.

Telephone

Each student room at University Hall has a direct dial telephone. Residents may give their phone number to family and friends and receive calls at any time. A four-digit internal-extension number lets residents call room to room to speak with their friends at no charge. To respect residents’ privacy, office staff are not at liberty to give out room telephone numbers. It is always the resident’s responsibility to let their friends and family know their room phone number.

To make external calls, pre-paid phone cards must be used. We recommend the Telstra Calling Cards which offer great deals for local, national and international calls.

Housekeeping

Depending on the type of room a student is living in, rooms are cleaned weekly (Standard and Standard Premium) or monthly (Studio and One Bedroom Apartments). A day will be scheduled by the Hall’s Housekeeping team where they will tidy rooms – residents will be informed by this when they arrive at UniHall.

Residents living in a Standard and Standard Premium room receive a linen pack (included in the rent price) at the beginning of semester which includes bed linen, doona and cover, pillow with pillow case and a bath and hand towel.

Security

You can feel safe knowing the professional UWA Security team patrol the Hall regularly every day of the year. UWA security staff will accompany you back to the Hall if you are alone or in a group late at night. Save their number in your phone and call them for this service and any emergencies  on (+61 8) 6488 2222.
